Gimmick
I'm starting out with the show and the second episode makes me feel a bit uneasy (even if that is the intention). Should I push through with it or switch to the similar but "apparently non-degen" show Insomniacs After School?

Show doesn't keep same pace and quality for the entire run but I think it just ends up building certain mood and emotions. As for it's degeneracy - there are some jokes, some plot lines... but nothing even gets close to ending credits haha. But if it makes you uneasy, mind there will be erotic tension pretty much trough the whole series.
Overall I think it is still a good watch but if you doesn't feel it within next one or two episodes, don't force yourself.
